Details coming soon ... So far all I've announced is that it will have a special version of the Journey theme (which you can hear in the original trailer), done in the style of flOw ... basically just for fun!
I'll be posting things on twitter (@awintory) and on my FB page: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Austin-Win...
Or, just wait until the Newsletter arrives! It'll be a nice little package of music that will never be released anywhere else, and will only be made available to people on this list!
I can't comment on this quite yet but check back. I promise updates soon!!!
It's the truth I wrote what I think ... to me you are one of the great composers of our century ... and I expect great works from you ... I've heard most of your compositions ... and in my opinion You
Well I only hope when you hear Journey and some of the other things I've been working on, you still feel that way. That's a lot to live up to!! My deepest thanks for the very kind words ...
Haha you are TOO kind! Honestly, thank you from the bottom of my heart for such a wonderful message. It means a lot to me. There are some exciting things coming up soon that I hope you will like!
You are far too kind. And yes I was fortunate to have a handful of great teachers. My childhood piano teacher was named Derry O'Leary. He was a die-hard fan of Jerry Goldsmith and turned me on to the world of film music.
In high school two teachers in particular (named Bill Erickson and RJ Miller) really got me on the path.
Then in college I studied with Charles Fussell, Deniz Hughes, Eric Muhl and Morten Lauridsen. Very diverse composers and all very generous with their wisdom.
And I know it's cliche sounding, but in all honesty I am a lifelong student ...
I started working from day one, three years ago. The very first piece of music I wrote was what you hear in the trailer:
I'll do more in-depth discussion of this after it was released, but I can tell you for now that I was able to work very very closely with thatgamecompany and Sony every step of the way!
Other than flOw, Journey and Monaco, most of my previous video game work was very small indies that no one ever saw :) I have done quite a few more films than games (such as a beautiful drama which won Sundance called Captain Abu Raed, and another Sundance film called Grace, which is a dark psychological drama/horror).
Who knows what the future holds! I feel blessed to be writing music, and I really love films, games, and concert music equally!
